Introduction
Bob
Cratchit, as we all know, received much consternation from Scrooge for
wanting a day off from work on Christmas. "But it's only ONE day of the
year," said Cratchit. He should have lived in America where we 'Merkins'
have...
A
Little Off, We Merkins Are
A day off from
work Easter Sunday,
And Presidents' Days on a Monday,
And birthdays, like King's,
July the Fourth flings,
And now there's Attilla the Hun Day.
We have some
days off to 'Remember'
And Christmas, of course, in December;
There's also Thanksgiving,
And days for just living,
And New Year's to drink and get limber.
We've Halloween,
Flag Day, and more,
Like Valentine's Day to adore
Our 'loves;' then there's Mother's
And Father's Days; others,
Like, Hanukkuh, Kwanza, and four...
...More holidays
added each year,
Along with our 'sick days' (oh, dear!);
We 'Merkins' pay tax
And need to relax,
So give us an 'Off Day,' ya hear?
