Introduction
The
way it really happened
David
and Goliath
In the book
of Samuel,
David fought the giant,
using just a sling and stones,
a boy quite self-reliant.
In a stream
along the way,
David found some rocks.
He selected five of them
and stuffed them in his socks.
He called the
giant, called him names,
said things about his mother.
The giant got mad and shouted back.
They yelled at one another.
They both ran
out onto the field,
ready for a fight.
David took his leather sling
and loaded it just right.
He could throw
a rock real hard
with his trusty sling,
but how well he aimed with it,
now, that's another thing.
The first one
left a nasty bump
on the giant's shin.
It went right through his woollen sock
and tore into his skin.
The next one
hit him in the eye.
It really made him mad.
It left a swollen purple bruise.
It looked pretty bad.
The third one
knocked a front tooth out.
The pain was just inhuman.
It helped create a model for
the first "Alfred E. Neuman."
The fourth
one made him yell and whine.
Now that one was the worst.
It hit him where the sun don't shine!
He shouted and he cursed.
The fifth one
hit him in the head,
just like the Good Book said.
That's the one we read about,
the one that killed him....dead.
