Introduction

There's not much profit now in saying sooth.

Soothsayer

In Lotus pose I sat within the forum
My toga helping me maintain decorum,
And watched as Julius Caesar made his way
Among the crowd that gathered there that day.
But then I saw some faces that were grim
With hidden hatred, envious of him,
And that led me to shout, "Beware the Ides
Of March." and try to tell him why, besides.
But now my dire prediction has occurred
For no one listened, and nobody heard.

I think I'll change my trade, because, in truth,
There's not much profit now in saying sooth.
