Introduction
Where
I live there are many men's groups, this was just one of them.
Men's
Groups
I've
been thinking of joining a men's group
I've heard they can be lots of fun
And if we've all been fightin'
for our equal rights here
Then I can't see why I can't join one?
I've
no interest in ongoing involvement
I just want to go along once or twice
To see what it's like
To be a man for the night
I think it could be rather nice
I
imagine we'd sit in a circle
And perform some macabre ritual
Like drape genitalia
With some fine regalia
Though I'd be left out like a fool
Or
we might throw some wood on the barby
To honour our fire down below
Then in ash we'd all cover
Ourselves and each other
That'd be enough reason to go!
Then
a guy who'd been taking some lessons
Would start drumming a wild primal beat
While we all danced round naked
Inhibitions forsaken
Hey this men's stuff feels kinda neat
We'd
all connect with our sacred warriors
We'd scream and we'd yell at each other
Till someone broke down
In a heap on the ground
And we'd stop to congratulate the poor bugger
Then
we'd gather again in the circle
I don't think I could take any more
But we'd have a debrief
With some bloke they called chief
As we sat cross legged on the floor
We'd
talk of the challenges of manhood
Of the sacrifices daily we'd make
'We are taken for granted'
Was the mantra we chanted
As the supper the wives made we ate
Then
as time rolled along we'd all part
With a hug or a slap or a kiss
Another men's group over
And it's home to our lover
Life doesn't get much better than this
Well
anyway, that's how I imagined
A men's group was likely to be
Now my challenge ahead
Would be getting the men
To open the doors wide for me
So
I cornered the guy here who runs 'em
And to him politely suggested
That if he would just try it,
Let me in for one night
To give them a woman's perspective
Well
I've been in the group for six months now
I know all the chants off by heart
They let me sit in
Say the boys with a grin
For I play my own special part
I
tell them they're doing great now
That no matter what they're still number one
I praise and I hug 'em,
I feed 'em, I love 'em...Cause after all,
even a bunch of wild men still need a mum!
