Introduction
An
undying friendship. From his book 'Inert Activity'
Me
Pet Dislikes
Me pet dislikes
the neighbours
when they bang upon the wall,
me pet dislikes graffitists
with their aerosolish scrawl.
Me pet dislikes Kit-e-Kat,
dog biscuits, marrowbone.
Me pet doesn't want for Trill or nuts
and doesn't growl or groan.
Me pet dislikes
demolition men;
doesn't wallow in a bog.
me pet's not veg or animal,
though a bit of him's a frog.
Me pet's name it is Alfred
and, unlike other pets,
he doesn't need no exercise
or visits to the Vet's.
He's much opposed
to climbin' trees
and is quite averse to water,
and unlike most of Alfred's ilk
he's not engulfed by mortar.
He doesn't fetch the daily paper,
retrieve a stick or lick
but Alfred is a solid friend
as Alfred is a brick.
