Introduction

I have often wondered why English writers follow American spellings.

My Words

American's are so delighted
When their chewed cigars are lighted.
When my cigars are properly split
I prefer to have them lit.

And I find it most neglectful
When they ignore the homosexual.
I don't find it hard to say
For it gives us back our nice word gay.

Working all day at night they leaped
Into their bed wherein they sleeped.
I prefered it when I leapt
Into bed wherein I slept.

Into the nursery they peeped
Up to the cot they gently creeped.
I find this spelling most inept
When I went to my kids I crept.

I do not wish to be a bore
I'm sure it's not a very large chore.
Don't slavishly follow the American nerds
Please give us back our English words.
