Introduction
I
wrote this during a time when I worked full time with a baby and everything
got behind around the house. Published in the book "Wind in The Meadow"
available through Poetry.com
Off
To Work
The trash is
running over,
The grass is to my knees.
The shrubs in the front yard
Look more and more like trees.
I've forgotten
how to mop,
But once in a while I try to sweep.
The bed never gets made,
But I hardly ever sleep.
The cat is
lucky to get fed,
The laundry just grows higher.
There's three weeks or more of mail
Stacked up on the dryer.
I drive the
dirtiest car in town
And my oil is probably low.
But it matters not what I have to do,
It's off to work I go!
