Rusting

Eternal youth is dreams or lies,
passing time brings rusting and rot,
for like gravity, age applies,
whether you accept it or not.

When hair turns gray that once was gold
we older folks should come to know
not how to grow still lively old
but just how old we're allowed to grow.
