Introduction
I
was inspired to write this poem due to two factors. The first was an anecdote
I heard whilst decorating, it was about one of my childhood heroes, Sherlock
Holmes, his adventures enthralled me, as in his calm superior way he solved
all puzzles placed before him!
The second was a poem on this site entitled,Not This Time Moriaty! Was
I inspired? This is for Bazza & Mazza
The
Amazing Case Of...
Sherlock Holmes,
relaxed at Baker street
Was feeling rather jaded,
As the paintwork outside his rooms
Was looking distinctly faded.
"Watson,"
he cried, without delay
You must go on holiday,
So I can arrange the cheapest rate,
For men to come and decorate."
"The game's
afoot, I cannot wait,
For fresh colour, on door and gate.
I must quickly make a start,
By examining a colour chart!"
"Watson
old chap, you're a man of taste,
What colour do you think?"
"I do not mind, whatever pleases you,
Although I must admit, my preference would be blue!"
The days passed
by, the job was done,
Workmen's money was well earned.
Watson, refreshed by the sun
With much excitement, returned.
His first sight,
was of the door
Colour, garish hue of yellow.
"Holmes come quick!" He cried in shock,
And do please explain, old fellow."
"I have
seen some colour schemes whilst on promenade,
From those of poorer homes to ones of the landed gentry.
What possessed you to select such a dreadful shade?"
Holmes retorted, " Lemon Entry!"
