The Face

When I woke up this morning
and crawled out of my bed,
I swayed into the bathroom
to look at my sore head

I tried so hard to focus
through my blurry, bloodshot eyes,
and as it all became so clear
I really was surprised.

Because you see the mirror
didn't reflect my face at all,
It was strange and round and funny
and seemed a bit too tall,

But as I wondered who this was
that was giving me a fright,
I couldn't imagine what I drank
at the party late last night,

But then things became clearer
and were not quite what they seemed,
Because I realised there and then
that this was all a dream.

I now vow each time I retire
a promise that I'll keep,
That no way will I get so drunk,
especially in my sleep.
