Introduction
The
poem was written as a light hearted response to the magic of medication
The
Pills That Will
We are the
little pills,
guaranteed to cure your ills
Some of us are cheap and nasty,
others come with expensive bills
Our colours
are all so trendy,
our shapes are varied too
Often embossed with trademarks,
so we're easily split in two
We are taken
from our bottles
and into mouths we're thrown
We take good care of your problems,
no matter how many you own
We go upstairs
to your aching head
and ease the pain that's in it
We go across to your infected ears
and tells those germs to quit it
Your heart
we meet with it's upset beat
and we put it back in order
We travel down your kidney tubes
and tell them, "Make water like you oughta"
Now this is
just the beginning,
we have much more to do
Like settle down that toe with gout,
so you can put your foot back in your shoe
We cure that
arthritis
that lingers in your hip
We motivate that sluggish bowel
and say, "Let's get on with it"
We could go
on and on,
but we're sure you would get bored
So we'll stop now for a breather,
a fair and just reward
One last request,
as we do our best,
for we're loyal and we're truest
Take us whole, with water cold,
'cause it hurts like hell when you chew us.
