Introduction

There is much good poetry out there today... and a lot of bad poetry too. After reading a piece of very pretentious free verse, I got the idea for this limerick. Before anyone writes me defending haiku, I do write haiku. It's a joke.

The State of Poetry

Now the limerick, it's really quite true,
Most poets completely eschew.
Seems they all write free verse,
or quite possible worse,
engage in the dreaded haiku.
